This was born of a need to use up the ageing strawberries in the fridge, plus whatever was growing in the garden. Found a recipe at https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/strawberry-basil-mocktail/ and adapted it in the laziest possible manner.
Delightfully refreshing, the lemon, sugar, strawberry and basil all work together well, especially when well-chilled after shaking.
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 2 strawberries
- handful of basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- soda water
- ice cubes
- Muddle the strawberries, basil, and sugar at the bottom of your shaker.
- Add lemon juice and ice and shake until chilled.
- Half-fill glasses with ice
- Strain into glass
- Garnish with a slice of strawberry and basil leaf
